Tips How to Choosing The Right Thermal Grease For PC
A few days ago we reviewed what is thermal grease and its function that is vital for components such as the processor. A PC user will easily find the thermal grease on the market, and there are many brands to choose from. Although it is known that most thermal grease products can withstand temperatures up to 150 ° C, some brands are claimed to be able to withstand temperatures of up to 300 ° C, even more so.

With so many choices of thermal grease that can be found on the market, it is important for PC owners to choose the one that is most appropriate for them. It is true that most oil-based thermal greases are combined with polymerizable, but there is also a thermal grease product that is visible from components consisting of silicon and zinc oxide. Both act as "glue". It's just that a combination of such materials is now hard to find.

nice thermal grease must thermal grease manufacturers are still combining the combination of materials mentioned above, but they also add other materials such as aluminum. For example on Prolimatech PK1 products, for example, made from the following combinations:

60-85% aluminum
15-25% zinc oxide
12-20% silicone oil
And other anti-oxidant ingredients
When considered more carefully, some types of thermal grease seem mysterious when judging from the side of the material used to make it. Take the example on DC 1 produced by being quiet's. This one is made from 30% zinc oxide, 60% metal oxide and 10% silicon. Zinc is a type of material classified as a metal category. It makes a material like 'metal oxide' provoke the question: what does the real form look like?

Why is knowledge about materials important? First of all, because the mixture of materials used in a thermal grease brand will determine many things, including electrical conductivity, heat, viscosity, and durability. Some other brands such as Arctic Silver 5, for example, even contain silver. While some other brands are made from graphite materials, such as WLPG 10 brand made by Fischer Electronics. The latter is a typical thermal grease product which was created specifically for professionals and did not take silicone material as a mixture. WLPG 10 is a good type because of its very high thermal conductivity (up to 10.5 W / m K). However, the drawbacks are: WLPG 10 is much more difficult to apply onto the surface of the processor, and is an electrically conductive type.

In fact, there is another solution, which is provided with thermal grease with carbon nano-particle material, but it seems that this type of one is not suitable for people who are very enthusiastic with his PC, because the price is expensive and the type is an electrically conductive group. The best is probably a type of thermal grease made from copper-based materials. But the market for this one product has narrowed, so it is very hard to find. If you insist, you may find it, though not easy.

thermal grease for CPUIndeed many people are interested in thermal grease because for so long the PC users crammed with the knowledge that it is one of the most important components to dissipate excess heat. But there is one important thing to understand:  thermal grease is not a good type of heat repellent, and certainly not a heat conduction type that should be a top priority.

You may buy it. There's nothing wrong with that. But the most important thing to note then is how to build a  cooling system for your PC, according to the specifications and what you want from the device. In short, there is a chain of CPU cooling systems, and the thermal grease is at the bottom, regardless of the manufacturer and the price.
